In Memoriam

Two of the key architects behind the formation and conduct of Team Harmony have left us. We miss them and their collective passion for racial equality and social justice for all.  We proudly dedicate the Team Harmony mission in their memory.

Leonard Zakim

Who was Leonard Zakim?

Leonard P. Zakim, was the Executive Director of the New England Region of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). He was a leader in tolerance education, ethnic reconciliation and creating inner-city youth programs. Lenny died of bone marrow cancer in 1999 at the age of 46.

Mr. Zakim had used his political connections and friendships with black ministers, Roman Catholic leaders and sports celebrities to establish community organizations and public-service events, including the 12,000-member Team Harmony antiracism rally for teenagers and the nation's largest black-Jewish Passover seder.

In his last years, Lenny had turned his personal struggle with myeloma into a public one, speaking about health, grief and suffering, and accepting donations in his honor to establish the Lenny Fund, which he used to support projects to fight poverty and bigotry in the Boston area.

Larry Rasky

Who was Larry Rasky?

Larry was a giant in so many ways, not just professionally but personally. He loved and was loved by so many. He always treated the company like a family and we were all shocked and saddened by the news of his passing. He has left an indelible imprint on everyone he touched and the company that bears his name will go on in his spirit.

It’s doubtful Larry ever formally studied or took a course in PR or media relations.  And yet there was never a better practitioner —as a crisis counselor, a consigliere to politicians, an adviser to corporate titans and consultant to the many causes and individuals he championed.  He was a mentor to many in this business. You’d be hard pressed to find anyone in the local media or political and corporate world who didn’t at one time or another seek his counsel.

Among the things we all loved about Larry was how he lived life fully and immersed himself in his passions with great zest –Democratic politics and his beloved friends Joe Biden, Ed Markey, Marty Walsh and John Kerry to name a few; horseracing; the Grateful Dead; the Allman Brothers; the Boston Red Sox; his family and his friends.
