TEAM HARMONY 2020 UPDATE: Issue No. 2
Team Harmony Taking Root in Atlanta!
The Carter Center hosted two meetings of community leaders in preparation for the Tuesday, October 20th Team Harmony Global Youth Rally Against Hate. Over 20 local leaders attended the meetings and have offered programming ideas and speaker suggestions for the event. Amongst the attendees were representatives from local social justice organizations, Congressman John Lewis’s Office and the Harlem Globetrotters; Representatives from The Rendon Group presented on the history of Team Harmony and the vision for Team Harmony 2020.
Atlanta Student Advisory Council Meets
On January 28th the initial meeting of the Atlanta Team Harmony Youth Advisory Council took place at Grady High School. Eight student representatives were enthusiastic about the program and discussed the importance of messaging, the utilization of social media, how to incorporate the arts and local musicians that may be interested in performing at the event. The students will continue to provide input going forward and will also be helping to organize and promote the Team Harmony social media campaign in the coming months.
iHeart Media Atlanta Joins Team Harmony Effort
While in Atlanta, Team Harmony met with iHeart Media representatives to discuss the radio conglomerate’s potential involvement in the Team Harmony campaign. iHeart Atlanta expressed great interest in being part of the effort and we discussed: having radio station DJs serve as event emcees; assistance in securing popular local performers; and promotion of the Team Harmony social media campaign.
