Phillip Glenn
Dr. Phillip Glenn Ph.D. (University of Texas at Austin), M.A. (University of North Carolina, Greensboro), B.A. (University of Texas at Austin) is Professor of Communication Studies at Emerson College, Boston, USA. Phillip developed and teaches courses in Conflict and Negotiation; Positive Communication; and Mediation, Facilitation, and Dialogue. He was a Visiting Scholar at the Harvard Program on Negotiation and has held Fulbright appointments in the Czech Republic and in Moldova. His scholarly research on language and social interaction includes studies of laughter, group problem solving, employment interviews, and everyday conflict. Trained in nonviolent communication (NVC), Phillip also serves as a mediator and educator with Metropolitan Mediation Services in Brookline, MA.
Course: The Art of the Difficult Discussion

This course will introduce students to strategies for talking across differences and ideological and political divides. Specific topics will include listening to understand and expressing one's own views respectfully.
